July 4th Teen Safe Driver Sale – Celebrate Freedom and Family this 4th!

The day your teenager gets behind the wheel of a car for the first time is a challenging one. It’s stressful relinquishing control and the keys and letting them out on the road. While your teen is surely rejoicing over their newfound freedom, you may find yourself in a panic about all the things that could go wrong.

Simraceway’s Performance Driving Center has developed the Teen Safe Driver Program that’s specifically geared towards teens and increasing their driving safety. This one day program is broken into two parts: classroom time, and seven instructive driving sessions. Students will also have the opportunity to drive through a controlled slalom course and an advanced emergency lane change exercise. These specialized activities will make your teen better equipped and feeling more confident about getting behind the wheel.

As part of the distracted driver module in the Teen Safe Driver Program, teens will explore how to avoid distractions behind the wheel and what it means to be a responsible driver. Escape the hustle and bustle of city life for the wide-open spaces of Sonoma’s sporting life. At the gateway to the Carneros wine growing region, Wing & Barrel Ranch, Simraceway Performance Driving School and Ram’s Gate Winery have partnered to offer the ultimate triple play combining the skill of sport shooting, the thrill of car racing and the fine art of winemaking in an unforgettable day for discerning, adventurous travelers.

Morning:
Combining raw beauty and timeless tradition, guests take in the early morning countryside from Carneros’ world-class Wing & Barrel Ranch. This new luxury sporting club, set on the edge of the beautiful bay coastline, features the only West Coast Sporting Clays Course designed by globally renowned shooting instructor Chris Batha. The course covers 25 acres and features 15 fully automated shooting stations with three shooting positions to challenge all levels. Wing & Barrel’s dedicated team, trained to the highest standards of the sport in skill as well as safety, will guide guests through a unique combination of French Parcours, Traditional British and Modern American Sporting Clays. Wing & Barrel Ranch aims high with sights set on the natural surroundings. (9:00 am – 11:30 am; lunch included)

Afternoon:
As the sun peaks high over the Sonoma hillsides, take to the track at Simraceway behind the wheels of a Formula 3 open wheel race car, the most popular class of single -seater racing in the world. Offering the most advanced, state-of-the-art facility and road course and the lowest instructor to student ratio in the industry, Sonoma Raceway’s Simraceway is prime territory for budding racecar drivers. After a vehicle dynamics talk and braking and shifting driving exercise, spin around the track for 12 full laps. (12:00 pm to 4:00 pm).

Evening:
With the day of shooting and driving behind you, transition to the art of winemaking at neighboring Ram’s Gate Winery for a private behind-the-scenes tour and tasting. Proprietor and fellow sportsman Jeff O’Neill and his winemaking team are dedicated to producing small lot, single vineyard Chardonnays and Pinot Noirs from some of the most sought-after vineyards in Sonoma and Napa, including Durell, Hyde, Hudson, Gap’s Crown and Ulises Valdez Vineyards. The vineyard tour and barrel tasting culminate with an intimate dinner at the winery where the evening’s menu will be designed to complement Ram’s Gate’s wines with seasonal items harvested from the estate’s organic gardens. (4:30 to 8:00 pm)

Good Sport is available by appointment only, on a mutually agreed-upon date, for four to ten guests and includes:

• Sporting Clay shoot at Wing & Barrel Ranch with instruction and outfitting
• Half-day Sonoma Raceway Formula 3 racing experience
• Private tour, tasting and chef’s menu paired with wines at Ram’s Gate Winery

The starting price for Good Sport is $10,600 for group of four including tax and gratuity. Experience customizations are available.
