Learn to race NASCAR-style stock cars at America’s only road course-based school.
There’s no doubting the popularity of stock car racing and, with Sonoma Raceway being the home of one of only two NASCAR road course races, it’s only natural that the Simraceway Performance Driving Center should offer its guests a specialist Stock Car Racing School.
The very latest additions to our state-of-the-art fleet, our stock cars are a fully-equipped, properly built racers with Jericho transmissions, Butler-built racing seats, and an American Iron engine under the hood. Their purpose-built, tube frame chassis are wrapped in lightweight bodywork and run on octane-full racing fuel and racing slicks.
Mastering them will be both rewarding and thrilling, providing participants with a tantalising taste of true, American-style racing.
Courses
Stock Car Experience–Half Day ($895)
Driving a stock car means only turning left, right? Not here it doesn’t! The Simraceway Performance Driving Center’s Stock Car Experience offers guests the once-in-a-lifetime opportunity to drive a thoroughbred V8 race car around one of the most thrilling road courses in the U.S.
This intensive half-day program offers participants the chance to pick the brains of renowned professional drivers in a classroom environment, before heading outside for car-control drills designed to teach how to drive these amazing machines with the utmost precision. And then it’s onto the world-famous Sonoma Raceway where students will experience what the pros do here every June!
Stock Car Racing School, Stage 1–Two Days ($3,295)
A supremely engaging and enlightening two-day course, Stock Car Racing School Stage 1 has been designed to pass on many of the tips and tricks used by the pros in the Sprint Cup Series. From learning about proper shifting techniques using our purpose-built stock car’s four-speed Jericho transmission to mastering the essential art of left-foot-braking, we’ll provide you with all the tools you’ll need to feel comfortable piloting a stock car around Sonoma Raceway!
Stock Car Racing School, Stage 2–Two Days ($4,995)
Stage 2 takes a closer look at everything associated with a full stock car race weekend. In this two-day course, participants will master high-speed passing techniques, trail braking, vehicle rotation, and many of the other skills stock car drivers require in order to run at the front. Then they will explore the art of qualifying, learning how to push their car to the limit, before experiencing the supreme thrill of racing wheel-to-wheel on one of the two road courses currently hosting NASCAR races.
Graduates of Stock Car Racing School, Stage 2 will be eligible to enter our popular Arrive & Drive racing series.
Stock Car Racing School, Arrive & Drive Race Weekend–Two Days ($7,500)
For drivers who have successfully mastered stock car race craft in our Stock Car Racing School, Stage 2 course, our Arrive & Drive Race Weekends provide the exhilarating opportunity to compete in a full weekend of racing, with participants practicing, qualifying, and racing just like in a Sprint Cup event! This unique experience includes a dedicated car, coaching throughout the weekend, and comprehensive team support—not to mention all of the fun and camaraderie that comes with such a once-in-a-lifetime experience!
