Road Safety: Don’t Leave Anything to Chance

A recent study by the Insurance Institute for Highway Safety has shown that modern cars are safer than ever before, largely thanks to recent design implementations. However, despite these reassuring findings, we all hope we will never have to see a deployed airbag or utilized crumple zone.

The best way of ensuring that is to be the safest driver you can possibly be–something that the Simraceway Performance Driving Center can help you with thanks to its acclaimed Safe Driver Training programs. Click the red tab at the bottom of the screen to find out how you can make your loved ones safer on the roads.

Lap of Champions in the Lola SRW F3

Our online simulation’s popular Hot Lap Hump Day YouTube series had a very special addition recently. Usually featuring in-game footage, this special episode took a lap with a driver from our Jim Russell F3 Series Race of Champions, held last month. Featuring the dulcet tones of our up-and-coming commentator, Liam Jenkins, the footage provides a unique perspective on what it feels like to turn a lap of Sonoma Raceway in our industry-leading Formula 3 car.

IndyCar Lights Up Sonoma

The 10th GoPro Grand Prix of Sonoma took place at our home track of Sonoma Raceway last weekend, with Chip Ganassi Racing’s Scott Dixon securing his first win at the venue since 2007, following a chaotic climax to the race. As life gets back to normal here in beautiful Wine Country, the IndyCar Series season marches on to its conclusion on Saturday at Auto Club Speedway. We wish the best of luck to all drivers.

Ever wondered how it feels to pilot an open-wheel racer? Check out our range of courses featuring our industry-leading Lola SRW F3 car, or find out about our low-cost Formula 3 series, where you can race for as little as $1,295!

PDC Rules the Track!

There was a distinctly Simraceway flavor to the weekend’s racing with uber-talented PDC alumni Dane Cameron (TUDOR United SportsCar Championship, GTD class) and Gabby Chaves (Indy Lights Championship) both securing significant victories. The wins leave Cameron tied for the lead in the Drivers’ Championship and hands Chaves his first ever Indy Lights title. Congratulations to them!

If that wasn’t enough, the weekend also saw an impressive second-in-class (behind Cameron) for Jeff Westphal and a P3 for Greg Liefooghe (Continental Tire SportsCar Challenge, ST class), both from the PDC’s world-class pool of instructors.

To follow in the foosteps of Dane and Gabby, check out our current courses and programs now!

The Mechanics Training Program is Back!

The Simraceway Performance Driving Center is relaunching the industry-acclaimed Mechanics Training Program, with the first intake due in September.

The MTP was last run in 2009, with the majority of its 2,700+ graduates finding employment at all levels of IndyCar, NASCAR, IMSA, SCCA, and vintage racing teams, as well as major chassis and engine suppliers. The program’s manager, Ky Boe–himself a noted alumni of the course–and his team have been working hard on ensuring the latest installment of this popular program reflects the very latest technological advances in motorsport. Read on to find out more.

PKC Introduces the Polaris Off-Road Experience

The Simraceway Performance Karting Center invites you to leave the asphalt behind and explore the wild side of Napa Wine Country! This brand new Simraceway experience puts drivers behind the wheel of a POLARIS Ranger 4×4 ATV. A course of essential off-road instruction will be followed by a memorable excursion that takes in stunning views at the famous Dollarhide Ranch–and a range of fine wines at St. Supery’s Vineyards. The Cost of Speed on the World’s Fastest Highways

We came across this great–if sobering–infographic the other day, illustrating the speed limits and accident statistics on some of the planet’s fastest roads. Assembled using data from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration (NHTSA), Forbes, and USA Today, it puts in stark perspective the human cost of pushing cars to the limit on public highways.

Here at the PDC, we would always advise drivers to save their “need for speed” for the track–but if think you, or someone close to you, would benefit from comprehensive and professional instruction on how to increase their safety on the highway, our Safe Driver Training courses do exactly that. Find out more or talk to us by clicking the red tab in the bottom right-hand corner of the screen.
