Formula 3 Racing School, Stage 1 – Two Days

August 4, 2015 @ 7:30 am - August 5, 2015 @ 4:00 pm

THE LOLA SRW F3,
THE WORLDS FINEST RACING SCHOOL CAR

Stage 1 of our Formula 3 Racing School offers two days of progressive instruction, culminating in open lapping of the world-famous Sonoma Raceway in cars capable of incredible performance.
Day one begins with ground school, which covers the operations of the Lola Simraceway Formula 3, and all-important acceleration, threshold braking, and downshifting exercises. Then it’s into the classroom for an in-depth look at the complex theories of chassis dynamics, before using a dynamic skid pad to explore the boundaries of grip, chassis manipulation, and driver sensitivity to feedback and control techniques. The first day ends with an instructor-led lapping session as participants begin to acclimatize themselves to the challenging Sonoma Raceway.
Day two opens with more driver technique training on both track and skid pad, as participants learn how to control the car at the limit of adhesion. Then, after an important class covering open lapping and the rules of the road, it’s time to take all those new skills onto the track in two adrenaline-pumping sessions.

1. Do I need my driver’s license to race a SRW-F3?
No, a license is not required. In fact, our racing school is open to drivers 14 years and older. Please check with a racing consultant if you want to race, but don’t meet the normal age requirement.

2. Is the School of Racing only for racers who want to make a career out of racing?
No, the School of Racing is a great course for anyone from the novice to the seasoned veteran. The skills taught in any of our courses will help on the track as well as in every day driving. These courses do not have any age maximum, as long as you have a clean bill of health.

3. Can I bring my own equipment?
Yes, but your driving suit needs to be a minimum of 2-layer nomex, and your helmet must meet current Snell approval. If you need racing shoes, they are provided to you at no charge, but please make arrangements with a racing consultant at time of registering.

4. Can I bring spectators?
Yes, you can bring your fans to watch or take photos for you. If they want to be included for your breakfast and lunch, there will be a nominal fee required, and please let us know upon enrollment registration so the catering can be set-up in advance.

5. How do I get my SCCA license?
You are eligible for an SCCA racing license upon successful completion of Stage 1 & 2 School of Racing courses. Once you have completed the courses, you can request an application from your racing consultant, and they will help you through the process.
